Only one of the parks we’ve been to on this trip has charged, and I believe that was $5/per vehicle fee at Chickamauga/Chattanooga (but might be mistaken). This is relatively unusual given our experience. Certainly if you hit the large parks–Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, etc–you should expect to pay a fee of up to $20/carload. However, you can also purchase an annual parks pass for $80 that gets you into every national park, plus all federally-managed public lands (national forests, wildlife refuges, etc) for free. That’s what we’ve been doing for several years now - with our trips, it pays for itself in just a few days.

I can’t believe just how many parks there are out there. Are they all free? If so, I might consider doing that for our first vacation as a family.

Update, the Republic is now reporting that interviews will occur this weekend, with a hire not occurring until next week.

The trio is still named, though I’m hoping that it’s still a smokescreen for a better candidate.
