Hot Shots! Part Deux (1993)
5/5
One of my favorite movies in the 90s. This one has a ton of pop culture and movie references, as well as a bunch of stop-frame gags.

No Impact Man: The Documentary (2009)
3.5/5
Not as good as I expected, but not bad either. If you've followed the blog at all, this movie is entirely redundant.

Land of the Lost (2009)
3.5/5
Not quite what I expected, but it's ridiculousness was at times entertaining.

Inception (2010)
4/5
Good movie with great effects and an interesting concept, though it seemed a little long.

Good movie, but with the hype I thought it might have been better.

If you're expecting the movie to stay true to the classic books, you're out of luck, but it's still worth seeing. I would have enjoyed it more if they would have named it something else.

What Planet Are You From? (2000)
4.5/5
I really like this movie. It's funny without being over the top, it has a good cast, and it was filmed in Phoenix.

The Invention of Lying (2009)
4/5
Didn't expect the religious commentary, but thought it added quite a bit to the movie. :)

Whip It (2009)
4/5
A good movie, but certainly not worthy of the praise I've see hoisted upon it.

Alice in Wonderland (2010)
4/5
About what I expected. I'm not a huge Alice fan, but it seemed well done (a bit over the top in a couple of areas) and was visually intense.

Avatar (2009)
3/5
Great special effects, but predictable storyline and downright bad dialogue. And yes, I saw it in IMAX 3D. It probably didn't help that we sat in the far corner of the front row next to the worst mother in history.

The Wolfman (2010)
2.5/5
Not really a fan of these movies; this one annoyed me a bit because it tried hard to startle you, which just feels cheap.

The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009)

Mostly boring. Shame, with all the familiar faces.

Platoon (1986)
4/5
Wow, can't believe my friends parents brought me to see this when I was in third grade. No wonder I didn't sleep that night.

Decent documentary about why some closeted politicians vote against their own interests.

(500) Days of Summer (2009)
4.5/5
Pretty good movie about love and relationships - definitely outside the usual script and set-up.

Inglourious Basterds (2009)
4.5/5
Pretty decent. The previews made it look like it wasn't going to be your average Tarantino movie, but alas, it was. But in a good way.

Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden? (2008)
3/5
Definitely what you'd expect from a Spurlock movie, though the best part is probably the beginning sequences. You leave the movie with little additional insight into the situation.

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard (2009)
1/5
I was really disappointed in this movie. There were plenty of comedians that I know and like, but the dialogue and storyline sucked - seemed very thrown together and lazy. Piven was ok, but couldn't thrive in such a shitty script.

Decent but not as good as I thought it would have been. The best part was the footage of early Sandler & co at the beginning.

Good movie and Eastwood was a fine actor in it, but that's about it.

Miami Vice (2006)
2.5/5
I'll be honest, this movie just didn't keep my interest. About halfway through I grabbed the computer and only half watched. By the end I realized that I had no idea what was going on.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
1.5/5
Way, way too much CGI, and lacking the dialogue or storyline to make up for it.

Year One (2009)
1/5
Ridiculously bad dialogue, and well, storyline too. One of the worst movies I've seen, which is surprising because I like many in the cast.

Trekkies 2 (2004)
2.5/5
Not as good as the first one. Boy there are some incredibly obsessed, but well-intentioned, freaks out there.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)
4/5
A good movie, though very Titanic-like in its length and storytelling. I'm glad I watched this on DVD, where I could stop it for a few bathroom breaks. Thanks to Kim for letting me catch up so we could watch the second half together.

Eh. Some tortured dialogue and a ridiculous bomb explosion made this a movie I could have waited to see. Interesting twist felt empty.

Some nuggets of pop wisdom, but for the most part this was a boring and uninspired animated movie. I can't believe people raved about it.

Ohh, classic teen angst and bad 80s dancing! How it took me so long so watch this all the through, I'll never understand.

An excellent movie about a story I was unaware of. Sean Penn definitely deserved an award for his performance.

Star Trek (2009)

A little better than I expected. Star Trek has to be the most influential television series ever.

Yes Man (2008)
4/5
Despite its general cheesiness, I actually liked the movie quite a bit. Good message too, even if it was a bit cult-like.

Young People Fucking (2007)
3/5
Title apart, the movie had quite a bit of promise, though it didn't seem to actually pull it off.
